April Gratitude Practice: Dream Messages

Last night I had a dream about a Mountain Lion. It was perched in the tree right outside our front window! A big male! I took a few amazing pictures of it, as it moved this way and that!

Fyi, I live in the Midwest, we rarely see or hear about them being here! Though, we did see one walking with its tail high in the air, many years ago. The horses alerted us to it. We saw it walking through our woods, next to the back fence line, with our binoculars. We stopped and looked at each other wondering if we saw what we thought we saw. That was wild.

Back to the dream. I noticed 3 women sitting at our picnic table, (currently, I don't even have a picnic table.) They were watching the Lion and taking notes. They had a dark grey van. It was parked on the street. It looked like a weather tracker van. It has a big antenna on the roof.
Since there was a collar on the ML, they could follow it. (Hmm, I had watched a video late yesterday evening about horses with trackers.)

I started talking to one woman in particular. I remember that she had a lovely face. I mentioned that I was a teacher. She told me she was very worried about the possibility of a teacher's strike. She didn't know what was going to do with her kids if there was a strike?
I said, "They will ask all of the retired teachers, like me, to return to work." This information seemed to settle her down.

At this point the Mountain Lion jumped out of the huge Silver Maple tree and took off.
One of the other women said that it was time to go, since the Lion was on the move! We said goodbye. I thought, "Why was there a lion in my tree?"

I looked up the spiritual meaning of Mountain Lion. Leadership, new adventure and transformation!
My dear late friend and I shared the same birthday, which is coming up. She lived in Mountain Lion country in the Black Hills. She was a teacher and horsewomen. I believe she may have been the Mountain Lion and possibly, also the main women whom I talked to! She loved the lions!

I am not sure what the message about coming out of retirement meant, but I have been pondering doing something with the horses having to do with mindfulness and self discovery. I see myself doing this during a zoom meeting with anyone who is interested. I did something similar with the herd during our online teaching experience. I loved it.

I am grateful for this dream! It was a strong, graceful and peaceful dream.

April Gratitude Practice: Tree Equine (Eagle) Energy Healing

Yesterday we went for a side-by-side ride through the woods on our property. The energy of the trees just brings my heart joy.

I was so grateful to be in the woods again.

Today we went to pick up hay 1 hour and 11 minutes away. We were supposed to arrive at 11:11. I saw an 111 on a license plate and an 11:11 on my phone. It was an interesting trip. I need to look it up again.
I am grateful that my angelic team was sending me lots of hugs.

We saw several eagles on the way down to pick up the hay! One flew over the road right in front of our truck. It landed on the side of the road for just a moment before it flew up right in front of us. It caused us to slow down quickly.

"Yes, we saw you!"

It had a buddy with it, but the one that landed, took all of our attention.

On our way home, I saw several more soaring overhead and one above the trees. I tried to capture a photo of it as it was enjoying the warm windy weather as it flew on the wind drafts in the sky. (If you closely it is a speck on the right top quadrant of the photo.)
I am grateful for eagle visits. I love them as my dad visits as an eagle. Has since the day he crossed. I told dad to go soar with the eagles, many times before he died. I believe that he did. Oh how I miss him.

I found this picture, a few days ago, when I was searching for the elements and trees. I have been hearing the question I asked in my head, since I asked it. It was about the connection between Mother Earth and Tree energy I asked during the April Metaphysical Live last Monday.
I think this picture is what I was suppose to discover. Chinese Philosophy talks a lot about wood, fire, earth, water and metal. It leaves out air, which is interesting. So, 5 elements, but they do not include the same 4 we are most familiar with: Earth, Air, Fire and Water.
I thought this picture was stunning. It spoke to my heart.
I was very grateful to find this Tattoo art. My mind settled after I found it.
After seeing all of the eagles today, I think my team was letting me know that, yes, I found what I was supposed to find. Kinda cool.

I am grateful for all of the messages I have been receiving.

April Gratitude Practice: Partnership

Screenshot photo from a video author's husband took
Today, I am grateful for my partnership with Dan, my horses and our dog.

I am grateful for 2 people, who are doing their best, to fill the hole in my life, from losing my dear friend last summer.

I am also grateful for my coach. She too has been filling that hole in ways I hadn't realized until this moment. (I teared up writing these gratitudes, maybe because I was reliving, not retelling the story in my head. Healing takes the time it takes).

Screenshot from a video author's husband took.

I am grateful for the weather, as it has returned to spring. I played with Image and Onyx this morning. While playing I was getting hot in my winter clothes. I actually removed my hat and neck scarf when I went to give Onyx his hay. He was a bit testy this morning. He gets so jealous when I play with another horse. He also went backwards a little bit, his ears were back and he was sneaking hay. Image had been sneaking hay, so why not try that? Silly boy.
I decided to encourage hay as a reward, for Onyx, like I had for Image. Once I did that, he was like, oh, I can eat the hay, now?

Yes, I heard you.

Onyx actually offered lovely circles today, both directions. He got a little close, hmm, just like Image did. He is such a copycat. I was easily able to send him further away from me.

I am so grateful that I was able to hear my coach in my head. Put your belly button energy on the tail. I was asking myself, where is my energy, how am I with my horse today? Am I using my body language and mind in a way to communicate what I am asking for? Am I being fair? Am I doing what they want to do first, so we can eventually do what I am asking for?
I love being able to play with my horses at feeding time. I am so grateful. Dan video taped me with both of the horses this morning.I can't wait to watch the videos. Our partnership is pretty amazing.
I am grateful for these relationships and partnerships.

I have said this before, but our angelic team must be asking themselves similar questions as they learn to communicate with us.

Is your partnership with your angelic team harmonious or are your ears back?
Can you feel their energy as they send it to you like my horse and I feel each other's energy?

April Gratitude Practice: Stuck Thoughts!

Onyx, a palomino horse, is eating his hay while looking at the photographer.
Photo of Onyx, by author

This morning, my husband is doing what brings him joy, though I think he may be exhausted early again tonight. He is painting a step to an RV. He loves painting and repairing damaged RVs. I am grateful that he finds joy in his work and can pick and choose what and when he wants to, "Go to work!" Retirement is amazing for us both.

I hear the song, "Heigh-Ho, Heigh-Ho," in my head. Since the lyrics say, "It's home from work we go," not off to work we go, I giggle every time I hear it now. I am home from work and loving life. Dan was off to work, while I was off to the barn. I am so very grateful that I am now retired and heading to the barn without feeling the need to rush to get chores done to do something else. My life is magical.

This morning I did chores alone. I am so slow when I do chores by myself, which is fine. I fed them their mash. I asked them all to back up, wait for me to hang the bucket and touch my hand before they were invited in to eat. I love this connection with my herd. I am grateful for these connected moments.

Once I finished putting out the mash, I swept the mats so I could put their hay into their feeders. Today, I put their hay into their hay nets hanging on the wall. Sometimes, I put the hay on the mat or in a hay bag which we snap onto a loop we have attached low to the ground, so they eat with their heads down.

I have created a habit of giving them a treat after they finish their mash. While sweeping Images stall mat, she finished her mash. She wanted her treat. It occurred to me that this might be a nice time to play. She went to training for 6 months total, but she has not been as safe to ride as I would like. She has also suffered several injuries. She is healthy now. Which I am grateful for, so she is being asked to do things I have been successfully doing with Onyx. She is ready and even though she isn't always understanding what I am asking, I am doing what I can, to help her understand.

Today, I asked her to yield her hindquarters. She was not understanding me at all. Hmm, how interesting. This might be why we are struggling with our liberty circles. She tends to get tight and hold on to her thoughts. "I am supposed to do this now, not that." "You must mean that I am to back up." This morning, she kept asking for a treat to be dropped into her feed bowl. She was stuck on that thought.

My first thought, when I realized what she was stuck on, was to put the feed bucket away, but then it occurred to me, that I could use her bucket as a magnet to help her understand my suggestion. I used her focus, to help me with her understanding. This idea was mentioned during a Farrah live a few weeks ago. I have used buckets and food many times over the years, but it was this particular Zoom Live that pooped into my mind. It was perfect for this moment.

I unhooked it, put the bucket into my treat hand with a treat in it. I put my other hand on his belly, exactly where my heel would be to ask her to move that hind leg under her mid-line. She kept her head straight, she could not bend. She was still stuck. How interesting. I shook the bucket to get her focus on the bucket. When she bent around me, she relaxed enough to notice that there was a treat in the bucket.

I often thought she was a left brained horse, but I think she may have a little right brained in her. Left brained is a thinking horse. When they are right brained, they freeze and are fearful. Maybe she is right brained when learning new things? I am still pondering this. When we freeze up or when a horse freezes up, we have to slow things down. So, I did. I slowed way, down.

I asked for her head to turn toward the bucket before I asked gently for her hind leg to move. I felt that this way, she was bent toward me, which caused her hindquarters to move more easily in our small space. We both seemed to connect with a moment of, I understand. Her fear and worry and my thinking wheels in my head, both relaxed. I repeated this several times on both sides of her body.

I am so grateful that we both solved the puzzle. We were not stuck anymore. We were free to connect and understand each other. I felt that this was great progress. So, I stopped right there.

After our impromptu play session, I put the other half of their hay serving out onto their track or lane. This encourages them to move back and forth, which is as good for them as it is for us. I was grateful that it was not windy today. Yesterday, we had to feed in the barn. We had 41 mph wind gusts out of the north, which is not typical for our area. We get high winds from time to time, but usually they are out of the west.

Once I finished putting out the hay, I was a little bit warm. I still had to fill the water and clean up their stalls and dry lot areas. I chose the easier activity. Filling up the water tanks. I scoop out anything that does not belong in the water, like hay or bird droppings. Yuck! The horses had all moved out of the barn to eat the hay that I put outside in the sun.

I started to clean the stalls and the gravel areas just outside the barn doors. I don't like the gravel to have manure on it. I want the gravel to be clean so they can self trim their hooves. While I was cleaning Onyx's area. He left this hay to check out what I could do for him. He can be dominant, so there are moments when he asks that I need to remind him that I am a human, not a horse. Today was almost one of those days. When he first come to us, he literally jumped on my back while I was cleaning the area right outside his doorway. He use to bite and treat me like a horse. Good grief. He has been so much more respectful of me as a human now, but I am well aware that he could get too excited and forget.

His skin is all itchy because it is spring and he is shedding. He was a hoot, cause he was itchy everywhere. "Mom, scratch me here on my bum!" As he spun ever so slowly I could hear him ask me, "Oh, now can you scratch me on my belly?" He was pushing into me, which he was spinning ever so slowly.

I was just outside of his stall and standing right next to the wall of the barn. It was a bit tight and claustrophobic. Being this close to a pushing, 1000 pound horse, can be a problem. I hate being squashed. So, I let him know, that I was not feeling safe. He moved right away. I was so proud of him. So, because I could easily ask him to stop, I went up to him to scratch him a bit more. Our connection was strong. He put his head on my shoulder while I scratched his neck. He moved back and forth while I scratched his shoulder and his withers, which is the base of his neck on his spine. At one point he put his mouth on my wrist. Years ago, he would have bitten it, but today, he was letting me know that he understood that I was a human and did not like to be bitten.

When he had his fill of scratching, I went back to my scooping. He followed me like a puppy dog. He was asking to go out into the arena. I told him that it is still a bit wet, so we need to play on the gravel. I did not want him to slip. I swear he said, "OK, fine!" If he were a human, his eyes would have been rolling.

He wanted treats, so I asked him if he could move his hindquarters for a treat. He was totally on board with that idea. He easily moved and we danced while I finished scooping. It too was magical at a deep level. He was once stuck in his thinking, too! Now he is flowing with me like we are one. It is such an amazing feeling to be this connected to a horse.

Have you ever been stuck in your thoughts?

Can you feel them for a moment? Where do you feel them?

Once you have sat with the feeling, do you feel the release, when peace and calm return to your soul, as fear and worry leave?

Living a magical life is what we are all meant to do. We are not meant to live our lives in fear and worry. When we do, once we notice that we are stuck, we can give it the attention it is asking us to give, so that we can release the tension, release the pain and welcome in the calm peaceful life we are meant to live.

Horses are just like humans. They hold stressful thoughts in their bodies, they throw temper tantrums, they are playful and fortunately can learn new ways of being. Once they understand and return to a calm peaceful state life is magical for them, too!

I am grateful for the time I had this morning to spend with the horses while I was doing chores.

What are you grateful for today?

Manifest a magical life.

April Gratitude Practice: Dissonance

A photo of the sun shining over a tree with snow on the ground.

I am grateful that when I woke up this morning I realized that I had had a good night's sleep. I wasn't stressed, I smiled when I saw the snow that had arrived over night. I was grateful that Dan's procedure was yesterday and we didn't have to drive today.

I am grateful that today Dan was able to help me with chores, as one of the wooden posts broke off between Onyx and Harvey. You can see their tracks in the snow from their exuberant play last night. We knew it needed to be secured with a T post a few weeks ago and replaced this year, but thought it was OK until spring softened the ground. Nope it wasn't. So Dan put in a T post next to it and secured it. No one was injured while playing. I am grateful for that, too.

I am grateful that I learned about dissonance, as I can do the 'Mexican Hat Dance', now with a joyful heart.

I am grateful that I did not get hurt last night when I tripped over the end of a 1000 pound hay bale and fell into the cat's bathroom hay pile. Yes, it was funny. Or at least I chose to laugh. I can feel that fall today. I will take lots of Turmeric and Fish Oil today to combat the inflammation.

I suspect, I am still going through the Dissonance, but since I am inspired to write out my gratitudes and laugh about the experiences, I must be moving through them.

Oh, interestingly, I broke a fingernail while doing chores last night, right before I fell. I have a feeling my team was warning me to be careful, but I missed the message. I wonder if there was a message before the broken nail, that I missed. Were they talking to me but, I missed the message? Moving into this next stage has been an interesting learning experience, that is for sure.

I didn't even know what the word, dissonance meant a few years ago. I didn't realize that it was a part of my spiritual journey, until recently. I am just now starting to put two and two together.

I am grateful that I am being asked to listen to the softest messages from my Angelic Team. I believe, that I can follow the feel, listen to the messages and pick up on them sooner, just like my horses are doing. It's a magical experience.

How about you?

April Gratitude Practice: Live in the Moment.

I am grateful for the wonderful play session that Onyx and I had yesterday.

We have been playing with moving his inside hind leg under his mid line for a month. Through these short sessions, he has been building understanding and hind leg strength.

My coach taught us that asking our horse to move forward with one leg, instead of squeezing with two legs is safer. Most people squeeze with 2 legs when they are worried, if we teach the horse to stop or back up with 2 legs squeezing, the horse will stop or back up, if someone is riding and gets scared.

To me, this is brilliant. I have struggled with lack of confidence the last few years, so teaching my horse this concept makes perfect sense to me. I made it a point to focus on this one concept, for a month.

Yesterday, I was playing with Onyx while Dan was putting a 1000 pound bale of hay into the barn. Onyx had to be online, because the gates were all open. He is used to being at liberty (no physical connection to me) for the first 10 minutes in the arena. He usually can go wherever he wants to go to eat the grass along the fence line, before I ask him to connect to me. Since I have been playing with him before or while he is eating his hay or grain, he knows he will be rewarded with the food he is drawn to, if he plays along with my asks.

This was a wonderful positive outcome, which I had not expected.

Grass is a huge draw, so I made sure to give him grass as a reward option. Our sideways or side pass has not been great in the past, so I was delighted and amazed that he was able to move sideways along the fence from one of his favorite grassy areas to the next favorite grassy area. I had treats in my pocket to offer him as well. I loved that I was able to ask his front end or his hind end to move over with the tiniest amount of pressure. My ask was so light, it was almost from my thought, my focus and/or my body position.

I suspect that my angel team connects to me like this, as well. They ask me softly and if I understand, they celebrate.

If I don't understand, they ask or say it again with a stronger focus, and with more energy. Alternatively they may choose to guide me with a larger breadcrumb or break down the information into a smaller task before I can understand the messages they are sending.

This is what I did with Onyx. I broke down moving sideways into talking to his inside hind leg only for a while. Once he understood this, at the softest ask, he understood how to move sideways along the fence. He was able to put it all together and move with grace and understanding from point A to point B. It was beautiful and magical as we moved as one down the fence line.

Have you ever needed something said in a different or simpler way, so that you could understand it?

Have you ever broken a task down so that it was easier to teach to someone?

Have you listened to yourself and or to others when learning or teaching something new, thus knowing where they are stuck, so that you can learn or teach it in simpler bite size pieces?

I have been stuck for a month. I backed off of my writing, so I could give myself what I needed. I needed to pause, so I could live life in the moment and learn some important lessons on my own, without any pressure to put what I was learning into words.

I think I am ready to write again.

March Pause: A Writer’s Priorities

I have not been writing…So odd.

A photo of a rock heart and possibly a horse head rock.

My friend, Debbra Lupien, called it a pause, because I downloaded so much during the 21 Day Challenge that ended last month. Pausing my writing, feels right, so, I am going to go with this pause, throughout the month of March. (When I first said that, my whole body reacted with a sigh and a calming vibration).

You may read the full story here, if you are a non-member.

I am spending my time learning how to eat, to lose weight and repair our health (blood work numbers are a bit high) from Dr. Livingood, exercising (high intensity) 10 minutes a day ( love these workouts, also from Dr, Livingood), playing with or riding my horses, learning from my amazing horsemanship coach while riding my Balance Rider, improving my emotional health via Mavis Karn’s classes and spending time with a friend of mine who suffered a severe stroke a few weeks ago. She was recently moved into a rehab unit, and is making wonderful progress. I was with her and her lovely family on Saturday. (Please send my friend healing lovelight).

I will be back, I promise! Sometimes a writer’s priorities shift!

Have you ever felt that you needed more time in the day to do everything you want to do?

Have you discovered that sometimes you need to shift your priorities to make room for something that is more important?

When you shift, did you feel that you found doors opening that you did not expect to open?
